In 2021, UNESCO reported that over 250 million children worldwide under 17 were not attending school—a staggering figure highlighting the persistent global crisis in education. Education is not just a fundamental human right, as recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, but also a powerful tool for transformation. According to the EFA Global Monitoring Report, education empowers individuals to break the cycle of poverty, equipping them with skills to improve their livelihoods and driving economic growth through enhanced productivity and innovation.

Despite these undeniable benefits, millions of children worldwide are forced to sacrifice their education to support their families’ survival. They face barriers such as the lack of free, accessible, and suitable schooling, compounded by the challenges of poverty, inequity, and systemic neglect.

At Moms Against Poverty Canada, we believe that education is the foundation for building a brighter future, and our Education Programs are designed to pave a pathway out of poverty for vulnerable children. Through these programs, we strive to provide children with access to quality education and opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills—tools essential for navigating life’s challenges.

Our work involves building schools, learning centers, and libraries in underserved communities, creating safe spaces where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Recognizing the diverse needs of the children we serve, we also establish and operate vocational training programs, offering free classes that empower them with practical skills and opportunities for economic independence.

Beyond academics, our initiatives aim to nurture the whole child, fostering physical and emotional well-being and creating environments where children feel supported, valued, and hopeful. By breaking down the barriers to education, Moms Against Poverty Canada is not only opening doors to learning but also unlocking the potential within each child to create a future filled with possibility and promise.
